Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program Treatment in Utah
Welcome to Maple Mountain Mental Health & Wellness. We invite you to learn about our comprehensive treatment and support for people struggling with mental health challenges as well as substance use disorders.
The Impact of Mental Health Challenges
Those individuals with mental health challenges know only too well the impact these have on their daily lives. Our ability to manage work, maintain relationships, and fulfill our responsibilities are all diminished.
Conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma or substance abuse may lead to a decrease in our productivity at work, absenteeism or increased financial strain. The risk of physical health problems and weakened immune systems are all made worse by mental health challenges.
In addition, being socially isolated and experiencing stigma and/or shame can worsen the emotional burden of mental illness, making it even harder to seek help. And all of these stressors impact our personal relationships and overall quality of life. Without adequate support, we continue to struggle.
But help is available and that is our mission at Maple Mountain with our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).
Our Approach: Healing Through Intensive Outpatient Care
IOP is intended to support our clients while enabling them to lead a full, normal daily life. We offer a loving environment to aid you in healing from your mental health stress and/or trauma and teach you how to regain control of your life.
Purpose:
IOP is an excellent option for those who need more support than meeting with their therapist once a week, but also don’t have the need or ability to commit to a 24/7 residential program.
Intensity:
The program meets Monday to Thursday from 6-9pm. We offer both co-ed and gender-specific groups to meet your individual needs.
Structure:
A structured mix of group therapies, psycho-education and skill-building sessions.
Conditions Treated:
Depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, among others, as well as co-occurring substance use disorder.
Transitional Role:
IOP is generally a step-down from inpatient residential care or a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP).
Recognizing When IOP is Needed
While individual therapy is very important, you may find you need support on the days between appointments. IOP provides a supportive community that is there for you throughout the week, complementing the deeper work you may be doing with your therapist, health challenges, including PTSD, anxiety, and chronic pain.
Trauma & Addiction Treatment
We work from a trauma-informed perspective and understand the unique challenges of doing trauma work. For clients who also experience substance use issues, we offer a dual diagnosis approach working simultaneously with the underlying mental health conditions associated with substance use and addiction.
Individual Therapy
The opportunity to explore your issues in individual therapy, such as EMDR or ART, allows you to explore the root causes of your mental health conditions in a safe, supportive environment. Individual therapy is scheduled once each week while engaged in IOP.
Trauma-Informed Group Therapy
Group therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for clients to connect with others struggling with similar challenges. This can help clients feel less alone and learn from each other’s experiences. Our therapists work from a trauma-informed framework.
Psycho-education
Working with your therapists, in group therapy, you have the opportunity to learn valuable and insightful information to better understand and cope with your mental health challenges. Often also offered to family members, psychoeducation teaches problem-solving and communication skills.
Family Therapy
Family therapy, involving all relevant family members, seeks to assist the family to understand and improve communication patterns and problem-solving techniques, among other benefits.
Offered as part of individual therapy, family therapy may also take the place of individual therapy, as appropriate.
Case Management
One of your therapists may assist as your Case Manager, coordinating care, resources, and support to help you achieve treatment goals efficiently and holistically. It ensures continuity and accessibility of services.
Individualized Assignments
Your therapists may assign homework, such as journaling, reflection, meditation or working on other special assignments they provide.
Functional Medicine Integration
We also offer functional medicine testing to help identify underlying causes of mental health challenges and guide treatment.
Mental Health IOP FAQ
Who Is a Good Candidate for Mental Health IOP?
If you are experiencing mental health issues but cannot take the time to participate in a residential treatment program, then IOP may be the best option as it takes place four evenings a week. This way you can continue living your full daily life and continue seeing your personal therapist weekly.
How Does IOP Differ from Other Treatment Options?
IOP provides a comprehensive suite of offerings in the program. It does not require the full time commitment of residential care and is less intensive than our Partial Hospitalization Program, which requires daily participation during the daytime.
How Long Does the Mental Health IOP Program Last?
IOP varies with each person and can range anywhere from one to several months.
