Cocaine, also known as crack, is a stimulant drug that directly affects the central nervous system. It is one of the most commonly used drugs in the world, and it is highly addictive. It comes in the form of white powder and it can be taken in multiple ways – ingestion, injection, snorting or smoking.
Using cocaine comes with several possible negative side effects:
- restlessness
- tremors
- vertigo
- increased blood pressure
- seizures
- chronic fatigue
No matter how much cocaine has been consumed, it can lead to life-threatening problems including but not limited to: heart attack or stroke, convulsions, respiratory complications and failure, or brain hemorrhage. Along with the potential these life-threatening issues, or death, use of cocaine can cause serious emotional and mental problems. It can cause irritability, depression, hallucinations, anxiety, etc.
The majority of side effects listed above are short term. Although they are considered short term, they are still very severe and high risk.
